What to Do After a Ban

Getting banned isn't the end. Here's exactly what to do depending on the type of ban you received.

Step 1 — Identify Your Ban Type

Ban TypeWhat It MeansRecovery?
Game banAccount is banned, hardware is cleanNew account works
HWID banHardware is flagged, any new account gets bannedNeed to spoof hardware first
IP banYour IP address is blocked (rare)VPN or router restart
Shadow banAccount is restricted but not officially bannedVaries by game
info

Most modern anti-cheats (EAC, BattlEye, Ricochet) use HWID bans. A simple account ban is becoming less common.

Step 2 — Check Detection Status

Go to Discord and check the #status channel.

  • If the cheat is 🔴 Detected — a ban wave hit. Wait for an update before doing anything.
  • If the cheat is 🟢 Undetected — your ban was likely from reports or aggressive settings.

Step 3 — Clean Your System

Before creating a new account or spoofing, clean all traces:

  1. Uninstall the game completely
  2. Delete leftover game files:
    • C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\ — look for game-specific folders
    • C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\ — same
    • C:\ProgramData\ — some anti-cheats store data here
  3. Delete old loader files from your OwnCheats folder
  4. Clear your browser cookies for the game's website (some link your account via browser fingerprint)
tip

Use Windows Search to look for the game name across your drives. Anti-cheats leave files in unexpected places.

Step 4 — Spoof Your Hardware (If HWID Banned)

If you received an HWID ban, creating a new account won't work — you'll be banned again immediately.

  1. Use an HWID Spoofer to spoof your hardware
  2. Run the spoofer before launching the game
  3. Remember: the spoof resets when you restart your PC
warning

You must spoof before every session if you've been HWID banned. The spoof is not permanent.

Step 5 — Create a New Account

After cleaning and spoofing (if needed):

  1. Use a different email address for the new account
  2. Use a different username — don't reuse your old one
  3. If you suspect an IP ban, use a VPN or restart your router for a new IP
  4. Don't add your old friends immediately — some ban systems flag connected accounts

Step 6 — Play More Carefully

If your ban was from reports or suspicious behavior, you were playing too aggressively. Dial back your settings and play more naturally — see the full How to Avoid Getting Banned guide.

Step 7 — Wait for Updates (If Detected)

If the cheat was marked as 🔴 Detected:

  1. Do not use it until it's updated
  2. Wait for the 🟢 Undetected status in Discord
  3. Download the latest loader after the update
  4. Only then start playing again

What About Restore Points?

If you created a restore point before cheating, you can use it to roll back system changes:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode if needed
  2. Search for "Create a restore point" in Windows
  3. Click System Restore and select your saved point
  4. This restores drivers, registry, and system settings to before you installed the cheat
caution

A system restore does not remove HWID bans — the ban is on the game server's side, not on your PC. You still need to spoof.

Common Mistakes After a Ban

MistakeWhy It's Bad
Creating a new account without spoofingInstant re-ban if HWID flagged
Using the same email/usernameEasy for anti-cheat to link accounts
Playing immediately after detectionLikely getting banned again on the new account
Not cleaning game filesAnti-cheat can detect leftover traces
Blaming the cheat without checking settingsMost bans come from aggressive settings, not cheat detection
